Our Purpose

We, the Alabama Honduras Medical Educational Network (AHMEN), are a nonprofit Christian organization that collaborates with volunteers and various entities to extend the message of Christ’s love in Honduras by providing medical assistance and supporting educational development. We offer a range of medical services and educational initiatives within Honduras, both locally and remotely, in addition to other community assistance programs

It’s a God Thing in Honduras, June 2025

Thank you, Jesus, for another trip to Honduras with our “It’s a God Thing” team. We returned last Wednesday. What a wonderful team God put together this year, including three new team members. As we worked with our support team in Honduras, Cruzadas Ministries, we met with and encouraged our 25 pastors. We call this project the “Pastor Support Project.”

Team members preached and shared at four different churches, two soup kitchens, and at Casa Cielo. We pampered and spent time with the girls of Shalom. Staple food was purchased by a donor for Eber and his family and delivered to them in memory of the Love Amy Project. A donation was also made to Casa Cielo for shoes in memory of Paul Roberts. We even had time for some ice cream, and a lot of donuts were passed out as well.

Guess what? It’s Christmas shoebox time! These same 25 churches are where some of our AHMEN shoeboxes go. Would you or your church like to be a part of this shoebox ministry? If so, give me a call: Larry “Bucket” Guthrie — 256-385-1370.

Toy Drive

AHMEN’s Toy Drive brings smiles and joy to children in Honduras by providing gifts that remind them they are loved and remembered. Through the generosity of volunteers and partners, toys are collected and distributed to children in local communities, creating moments of happiness and celebration.

Help us gather information on some Cruzadas churches and pastors. We’ll bring the information back to Alabama and see whether some local churches may want to establish a sister church in Honduras.

Medical Mission to Limon

AHMEN’s medical mission to Limón brings volunteer doctors, nurses, and support teams together to provide much-needed healthcare to local communities. Through medical consultations, treatment, and health education, the mission helps serve individuals and families who may not otherwise have access to care.
Teaching in Jutiapa

Education is an important part of AHMEN’s outreach. In Jutiapa, volunteers work with community members by offering educational support, training, and learning opportunities that help individuals build skills and confidence. Through teaching and mentorship, AHMEN seeks to empower people with knowledge while strengthening relationships within the community.

Shoeboxes

AHMEN's Holiday Shoebox Initiative is a heartwarming project aimed at bringing joy to Honduran children during the Christmas season. Collaborating with the United Methodist Disaster Relief Warehouse in Decatur, Alabama, we work tirelessly to gather and distribute shoeboxes filled with gifts to brighten the holidays for these children.
